New Self-reporting and Cooperation Policy
In order to better protect financial consumers and ensure financial market integrity, the AMF is launching a new self-reporting and cooperation program.
The purpose of the program is to intervene earlier in investigation and litigation matters so as to reduce the impact of offences and compliance failures on the financial markets, victims and the court system.
It is intended to encourage market participants who have contravened the law to self-report and/or cooperate fully with the AMF in exchange for the chance to benefit from a form of sanction relief.
Persons who have committed compliance failures or offences under the laws administered by the AMF may:
- self-report, either by writing to [email protected] or by calling the AMF Information Centre at 1 877 525-0337; or
- inform the lead investigator in their case that they wish to cooperate.

Probationary period: Important information
The probationary period does not start until the date indicated on the probationary certificate. This document confers on a candidate the title of trainee and confirms their right to practise for the entire duration of their probationary period.
The trainee, supervisor and firm are responsible for making sure they have received the probationary certificate before starting the probationary period.
Because the names of the trainee and employer appear in the Register of firms and individuals authorized to practise for the length of the probationary period, it is important to ensure that the information in the Register is accurate. Contact the AMF immediately if you notice a problem.
For more information about the probationary period, refer to the General rules – Probationary period section of the AMF website.
