Car theft: New measures to better support you

The new year is off to a good start for motorists, with simplified automobile insurance measures to help address issues related to car theft.

Since 2019, car thefts have unfortunately been on the rise, creating challenges for you but also insurers:

Sometimes difficult to replace the vehicle
Leasing costs can be high

To better support you, the AMF has simplified a number of automobile insurance measures, including:

Amount for leasing a car in case of theft increased to $3,000.
Can choose between receiving a cash amount or replacing your vehicle, if the vehicle is declared a total loss.
